Overview: A company may choose to use an Integrated API connection for sharing, retrieving and updating data between its own HR systems and the Flow Learning platform. When the two systems are connected, the API link updates the Flow Learning platform with any new or amended data from the previous day. This updates automatically and generates a list of all new items or amendments, called a Feed Log.

Note: You may not have this feature enabled. All Flow Learning platform API requests must be made by a previously authenticated user. If you are unsure if your company has Feed Logs or is using an API link, please get in touch with us.

Start from: The Flow Dashboard.

Locate Feed

  • Select Company > User Settings to open the Configure screen.
  • Locate Feed Logs on the Configure screen.
  • Select View  on the Feed Logs panel.

Note: The date and time of the most recent Feed Log will be displayed on the panel.

  • Scroll down the list of completed Feed Logs to locate the correct date of the one you want to check.

Note: Although there is a search icon, this functionality is not currently available. Instead, scroll down and select a Feed Log by date.

You can now review the company Feed Log.

When learners are added to the Flow Learning platform using an API link, there are some specific identifying fields that are required.

The following terms will help you to identify and understand what they mean within the Feed Logs. Refer back to these terms any time you have to use the Feed Log:

Feed log terms

Check the Feed Log

  • Select the name of the Feed Log you want to view.
  • Scroll down the list and select the dropdown that shows how many logged items you can view on one page. To view more items, choose either 50 or 100 from the dropdown list.
  • Select the circled page numbers to view each page of the Feed Log to check for information OR select Search  to open the search bar and enter the name or Identifier of the learner you wish to locate.

Note: You can also search using any of the fields on the list of terms above, such as Branch or Job Title.

If you already know that some information on the system hasn’t changed or is incorrect:

  • Enter Error in the search bar to activate a list of any known errors that have occurred while the Feed Log was processing.

This will produce a list of all errors that have occurred, with a reason for each one. The reason should help you to investigate the issue further. For example, “Could not link user id: [ID code] with trainee: [Trainee name] because the user has multiple linked trainees.” In this instance, the error tells us that the learner already has a user on the Flow system with that email address, to fix this they will need to ‘link’ their profile by following the instructions in their welcome email.

  • Select Export  to download the Feed Log.
  • Select CLOSE to close the Feed Log.

Note: The Feed Log can’t be edited so there is no need to save it before you exit.

You can use the Feed Log in this way to identify errors and search for specific information, helping to maintain accurate learner records.
