Overview: Training managers need to understand Learning items in Flow Learning so that they can effectively manage and deliver training content to their teams.

Learning items in Flow Learning encompass a broad range of training materials and tools designed to enhance the learning experience. Each type of learning item serves a specific purpose, enabling training managers to tailor the learning journey to meet the needs of their organisation.

Types of Learning Items

Modules

Modules are the building blocks of your training programme. They can be created using Flow’s Module Builder, where you can design custom training content specific to your company’s needs. Modules can include text, images, videos, and quizzes, providing a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.

When to Use

Use modules to deliver core training content, whether it’s a mandatory compliance course, a new skill development module, or a company-specific training programme.

For more information about Modules, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Modules / Módulos

Knowledge Checks (Quizzes)

Knowledge Checks are quizzes designed to test the learner's understanding of the material covered in a collection. While quizzes can be added at the end of a module, currently, Knowledge Checks are organized as part of collections. They help reinforce learning by providing immediate feedback on the learner's comprehension.

When to Use

Incorporate Knowledge Checks into a collection to ensure that learners have grasped key concepts before moving on to the next topic. Quizzes, on the other hand, can be used at the end of a module.

For more information about Knowledge Checks, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Knowledge Checks / Tests de connaissances / Pruebas de conocimiento

External Training

External Training refers to any non-Flow Learning training sessions, such as face-to-face workshops or third-party online courses. Flow Learning allows you to record and manage these sessions within the platform, keeping all training records centralised.

When to Use

Use External Training to record and track training sessions that occur outside of the Flow Learning environment, ensuring a complete training history for each learner.

For more information about External Training, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > External training / Formation externe / Formación externa

Challenges

Challenges are gamified learning elements that motivate learners through competition. They are often integrated into leaderboards, where learners can track their performance against peers, adding a fun and engaging element to the learning process.

When to Use

Incorporate Challenges when you want to boost engagement and foster a competitive learning environment. They are particularly effective in skills-based training where progress can be easily measured.

For more information about Challenges, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Challenges / Défis / Desafíos

Collections

Collections are groups of learning items bundled together to form comprehensive learning units. They allow training managers to organise and assign multiple resources, such as modules, external training, and additional learning items, in a structured way that aligns with specific learning objectives.

When to Use

Use Collections to compile and assign a cohesive set of learning resources that guide learners through a specific training pathway, ensuring they receive a well-rounded and comprehensive learning experience.

For more information about Collections, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Collections / Colecciones

Additional Learning

Additional Learning items are supplementary resources beyond the standard training catalogue. These can include extra modules, external links, PDFs, and images that enhance the learner's knowledge and provide additional context or resources.

When to Use

Use Additional Learning to offer learners the opportunity to explore topics further or provide extra resources for those who need additional support.

For more information about Additional Learning, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Additional learning / Formation supplémentaire / Formación adicional

Refresher Learning

Refresher Learning is designed to ensure that knowledge is retained over time, particularly for compliance or critical skills. Refresher rules can be set up to automatically reassign training at intervals, ensuring that learners remain up to date with their knowledge.

When to Use

Use Refresher Learning for mandatory compliance training or critical skills that need to be revisited regularly to ensure continued competence.

For more information about Refresher Learning, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Refresher Learning / Apprentissage de remise à niveau / Aprendizaje de repaso

Training Structures

Training Structures are predefined learning paths that group together various learning items. They are configured to align with job roles, ensuring that each learner receives the training necessary for their position.

When to Use

Use Training Structures to streamline the training process, ensuring that each employee receives a consistent and relevant learning experience based on their role within the organisation.

For more information about Training Structures, see the articles in the category Flow Learning > Training structures / Structures de formation / Estructuras de formación
