Overview: Mapal One allows workers to chat with their teams so that they can communicate quickly and efficiently with their colleagues to coordinate work and share information.

Start from: The Mapal One dashboard.

Access the Chat

You can access the chat in three different ways:

  • Use the Search tool to locate a specific colleague and start a Chat with them.

  • Use the Chat button at the header of the page.

  • Navigate to Company > My Colleagues.

You can start a simple chat (peer-to-peer) or a group chat. Currently, there is no limit on the number of members that can be added to a group chat.

Notes: The company must have ‘Simple and Group’ chat option enabled in the Engagement administration to access both options.

Please note that only admins can update group names, update group chat images, add or remove members from the groups, or mention colleagues in the chats.

To know more about admin permissions, see Manage administrators in Engagement

Send messages

  • Open the chat and enter your message in the Type you message box.

  • Press Send.

You can attach files and images using the Clip button, as well as find emojis by using the Smiley button.

Edit messages

  • Find the message you would like to modify in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the three dots button and select Edit Message from the menu.

  • A pop up window will appear with your original message in a text box. You can modify the message as you please, and you can also add attached files and emojis.

  • Press SEND when you are done editing the message OR Cancel to discard it.

Delete messages

  • Find the message you would like to delete in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the three dots button and select Delete from the menu.

Once you press Delete, the message disappears and a new bubble says The message was deleted...

Note: Be careful when deleting messages. This process has no previous confirmation before deleting and the deleted messages can’t be recovered.

React to messages

  • Find the message you would like to react to in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the Smiley button and select the reaction emoji from the emoji bar.

The reaction will now appear at the top of the message.

Reply messages

  • Find the message you would like to reply to in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the three dots button and select Reply from the menu.

  • A bubble with the message will now appear in the Type your message box, where you can write your reply and attach files if needed.

  • Once you finish, press Send

  • Find the message you would like to highlight in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the three dots button and select Pin from the menu.

  • A confirmation message will now appear at the bottom of the chat box.

  • Now, from any group chat thread, click the group icon and select Pinned messages - you'll find any messages pinned by yourself or the rest of the group.

To Unpin a message that is no longer needed, follow the exact same procedure. The only difference is that the menu will now show the option to Unpin instead of Pin.

Flag messages

  • Find the message you find inappropriate in the conversation and hover your mouse over it.

  • Press the three dots button and select Flag from the menu.

  • A confirmation message will now appear at the bottom of the chatbox.

Notes: Flagged messages are stored separately and, in the future, companies will have the capability to manage these flagged messages independently.

Mention colleagues in a group chat

  • Write the @ symbol in the Type your message box at a group chat and the first letter or first name of the participant you want to mention.

  • A pop-up menu with the names of the participants will appear. Select the specific participant you want to mention.

  • Write your message and hit Send. The participant will receive a notification, drawing their attention to the message.

  • Go back to the main Chat page.

  • Use the Search bar to type a keyword of your preference. For example, ‘Demo’.

  • The results will show you all Chats and Messages containing the specific keyword you searched for.
