Overview: As a restaurant manager, you need to create generic ingredients (food or non-food) so that you can use them in your recipes. Building your recipes using generic ingredients rather than industrial products ensures their longevity. You won't need to modify your recipes in the event of changes in your list of purchasable products: if a product is no longer available, Easilys will offer you another product linked to the same generic ingredient and available in your purchasable products.

Start from: The Easilys menu.

Create an ingredient from the Ingredients management section

  • In the main menu, select Recipes > Ingredients management

  • Select + Create

A new ingredient window appears.

 Please complete the following fields:

  • Name*: This is the name of the generic ingredient.

  • Tolerance: This allows you to tell Easilys whether you must absolutely respect the piece weight indicated in the recipe for the ingredient, or whether you accept a variation of plus or minus X%.

  • Ingredient family*: Choose the ingredient family to be attached to the generic ingredient. Depending on the ingredient assigned, the ingredient will be classified as food or non-food (see the article Create a family of food or non-food ingredients).

  • Production unit: This is automatically completed according to the ingredient family selected.

  • Nutritional composition for 100g: You can enter the nutritional values of the generic ingredient*. This will be taken into account when calculating the approximate nutritional values of your recipes.

*These nutritional values will not be taken into account if nutritional values are indicated on the industrial product.

Notes: Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.

General rules for creating ingredients

This is our recommended methodology, but there is no technical obligation to follow it.

  • Tip 1 - Write in uppercase

  • Tip 2 - Use the singular

  • Tip 3 - Specify "COOKED", but never "CRUDE".

  • Tip 4 - Specify "INDIVIDUAL" or "PIECE

  • Tip 5 - Indicate fragrances

  • Tip 6 - Indicate if the product is based on seasoning and/or sauce

  • Tip 7 - Specify the cut/preparation of the product

  • Tip 8 - Don't add accents or special characters

  • Tip 9 - Don't include information about origin, label, quality, etc.

These elements must be indicated on the industrial product sheet so that Easilys can take them into account in its various analyses or in its actions which must comply with Smart Selection-type rules.

It's impossible for Easilys to know that a product has the BIO label if the mention BIO only appears in the name of the generic ingredient attached to it.

  • Tip 10 - Don't brand

  • Tip 11 - Don't specify the number of pieces

  • Tip 12 - Don't enter weight, grammage, liter, etc.

  • Tip 13 - Don't include information about the container
